Lifting the rear end for a better stance

Is there any way to lift the rear of a 66/67 to fit in bigger wheels and tires? I am wanting to go for the hot rod look slightly similar to the pics below. There are pics of Riviera's sporting 20 inch wheels or more so I'm assuming it is possible. I am unsure how its done and if air shocks, springs, coils will work without damaging the vehicle any. Looking to spend around 500-700. Less is better.

What is the going rate for a set of built springs? The spacers may work. They do look like they can pop out if a vehicle was to drive over a bump in the road.

I appreciate the feedback. In all likelihood I will go with new coils and spacers. How much lift do you receive from the spacers front and rear? My aim is to have 16 inch wheels in the front and 18 inch 305 Mickey Thompson's in the rear.
