Daily summer driver in trouble-
Need 340 options
Couple questions:
Are rebuilts available?- Have found none in this area.
What ,if anything, will fit 2 spd trans?
This is a very nice car and had intended on keeping everything stock as it is ... but will listen to reason as my wife drives it everyday in the summer. Thanks for letting this newbie post w/ newbie questions.

Any 300, 340, 350, 3.8 or 4.1 will fit and mount right up.
This might be the excuse to big block your car
400,430,455?
They will bolt right up to your trans as well,
but you will have to use different frame and motor mounts.
as for availability, you should be able to get all the v-6's you want, and i think the 350 is available.

Remember, Lesabres had small blocks- you might find a rust bucket with a good engine

I have a stock rebuilt 68 350 i might let go- it has about 5,000 miles on it

Thanks for the info. I really don't mind sticking some money into this so I may explore the big block option -
I did find a long block 350 fairly reasonable
but we will see

I too have the 340 motor but some day would love to drop a 400 in the car, is it just the motor mounts that need to be replaced?
