The mainfold is a square bore.
The usual replacement carbs are the Carter/Edelbrock and Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm units.
The square bore Holley should bolt on.
hi everyone. i have a 67 buick skylark with a 340 and factory 4bbl AFB style carb. The car has been sitting since '93 so the carb isn't in runable. i have a rebuilt Holley squarebore 650cfm vaccum secondary carb thats been rebuilt. my question is will it bolt onto my stock intake? or is the bolt pattern on the intake q-jet style? i'd look at it myself, but the car isn't at my house at the moment.
thanks,
chris

The Holley should bolt on. However it's not that simple unfortunately. You'll need to make some provision for the transmission kickdown mechanism ans you will need to either fabricate or remove your old dashpot stop and attach it to the new carb. If you need a pic of the let me know. I've done this swap numerous times. As Yellowlark stated the most common replacement for the factory carb is another Carter on an Edelbrock. The factory carb flows approximately 500 cfm. You'll need to purchase a different air cleaner because the factory one is a 5 inch carb opening and the newer carbs are five and an eigth inches. Then there is the rerouting of the fuel lines and hooking up the throttle linkage all which with the Holley will take some time and a little fab work. Why not just spend roughly $25.00 for a rebuild kit and float for your old one?
i'll probobly just put a kit in the original AFB, i jsut thought i could try the holley since i have nothing to put it on at the moment. i guess i'll just save it for the 327 SBC im building for my '63 Chevy p/u. thanks you guys.
