Super turbine 300 / drain and refill

    Hello TeamBuick Forum,

First sorry for my poor english....
I have a Buick Skylark 1966 with the little 300CID 4.9L engine and the automatic transmission super turbine 300 ( 2 speeds )
I need to replace the oil pan gasket of my super turbine 300.
    My question is:

After I remove the oil pan and drain the oil, I installe a new filter and a new gasket.

Then need I fill the transmission with the complete oil capacity of 19 pints ( manual shop ) or this is less ????

    Please help : )

    Best regards to everybody.
    Vincent ( switzerland )

I believe that 19 pint figure includes the torque converter. Normally, when you drain the transmission, the converter remains about half full, so you aren't going to get 19 pints in there.

Add oil until the dipstick shows full, and then start the engine. The level will probably go down somewhat. Add more oil to bring the level back to full and keep repeating this until the level stabilizes.

A drain & refill with a filter replacement normally takes up to 5qts. (10 pints) of ATF111. Initiial fill after the drain should be about 3 qts. (6 pints) start & refill until the add 1 pint shows on dipstick. Then go for a ride to get the oil hot & re-check. Should now read full or close to full.
