300 CID ignition wire resistance where ?

    Hello everybody,

I need to replace the resistance wire part of the ignition with a standard wire without resistance because I change the coil with a ballast resistor inside ( Mallory 29219 ) and install a Mallory ignition conversion kit. ( Mallory 503 )
So I'm looking for this "resistance wire" between the ignition switch and the coil.

Perhaps someone know where is this wire in the car. engine harness ? dash harness ? in the fuse block junction ?
A yellow wire goes on the starter and a pink wire goes on the coil.

Thanks a lot for your help

If it is like mine, start following the wire from the coil back towards the firewall and you will find it spliced in.

    Hello,

Thanks for your tip but when I find the junction of the both wire ( the yellow and the pink ) there is a resistance or this is the begining of the resistance wire until the firewall plug ? ( number 8 the pin I'm right ? )

A much easier way to supply a full 12 volts for the ignition is to use the resistance wire as a trigger for a relay that is wired to 12 volts & then run a new 12 volt wire to the coil. This way you don't have to cut open the harness & quickly & easily convert back if ever needed. I've been doing it this way for years with NO problems.

Thanks Telriv for your good idea !

If the "resistance wire" is difficult to find and remove/replace, I try your intelligent solution

But.... no answer about the location of this "resistance wire" ???

    resistance wire

12 volts switched by the ign.sw is also found at the voltage regulator terminal 4 brown wire it
runs through the firewall pin #4 and is a brown/white stripe wire ti the ign sw.
A second choice would be the 12 volt at the orange wire that powers the transmission variable
pitch and down shift soleniods. A wire from either of these sources will bring 12volts to the coil
parallel the new wire with the original resistance wire on the coil, that connection is tied into the
yellow wire from the starter motor.

    just my 2 cents
