On my 1972 Buick skylark 350cid engine I tried to time it with a timing light. Of course I cleaned the marks on the timing cover and on the harmonic balancer but I could not find the timing mark on the crankshaft balancer. I am thinking that the outside of the balancer has slipped on the rubber. I am trying to find a new balancer but keep running into a part for a 77 Buick which I think is the the Chevrolet/ GM 350. can anyone tell me where I can find the correct Balancer for a 1972 Buick 350?

Thank You Bob, you continue to impress me with with the help you provide in this forum!

I got around to pulling the harmonic balancer off the engine after ordering the used one Bob had told me about on Ebay. Upon removing the balancer I found that the outside ring had slipped causing it to vibrate. as it Vibrated it wore the inside if the balancer's key way out 1/2 an inch to where the timing mark was about 30 degrees off. The balancer that was coming from ebay turned out to be bad so they did not ship it, and refunded my money.
I am at a cross road with this engine, I cannot get the broken key out of the crankshaft the carb needs rebuilt, the engine cover will probably need to be removed, I have an issue with the transmission and I am lucky to get 10 MPG driving it.
I am seriously thinking of installing a LS engine and transmission into it!
1977 350 should still be a Buick engine. Also you could try T/A Performance for a harmonic balancer.

installed a 6.0 AND 4L80E in it! that should change its personallity a little! Hey Can anyone hook me up with a 1972 skylark wiring diagram?
Go to the "Reference" section, look to the right for the table with "Years" and click on '72. Click on "Wiring Diagrams".
