    High School re-build

65 2 dr LeSabre. Had blown 300 so gave it away with idea to put in 430 which I have extra. After old motor extraction see job is not that easy.
So found a 64, 300 Alum heads, Alum 4 barrell. So full of pack rat droppings (stored with no carb) I vacuumed for an hour. Missing one rocker cover so crap is down pushrod holes.
Doc chime in here please, what do I have? What color should it be? Is it going to have knock problems on today's 91 Octane?
It would be cheaper to just put back in the switch pitch 300ST, use same drive shaft; but I also have a fresh modified 200-4R that was intended to go behind the big block.
I was just going to clean it put in timing chain and bearings and run the sucker til it breakes.
    Any imput would be appreciated.

    Slight Rebuild

The OD 200-4R is the best, a shoe in. If the oil is black you probably need rings and maybe pistons. My original bearings and crank are great. Get timing chain, gears and oil pump kit. Timing cover will need work as the WP screws will be stripped. Check the flex plate real close.

Water pump same issues as Big Blocks, guess Buick was a slow learner. Do these have same oiling issues as big blocks, bad flow, small passages, too many angles?
