    Gas tank question

I can only fill the gas tank on my 65 Skylark about 1/2 way before fuel comes spilling out of the filler neck. I have tried putting in gas very slowly with the same results. Is there a vent or something that could be clogged up? I know the tank is only half full. It isn't the gauge.
    Any help would be appreciated.

My guess would be the fuel tank vent is clogged or kinked which is stopping/restricting the escape of air as fuel is being pumped in. I've even seen where spiders/bees/wasps have built homes in the vent pipes/tubes. This is what I would check 1st. It's the easiest & costs no $$$$$. If you don't have one get a chassis manual it will save you many times the cost by saving you money on repairs that you will find you are capable of doing & also goes though what & how to troubleshoot certain systems with diagrams.

Thanks Tom! That vent would probably be on the top of the tank?

I believe, but I could be wrong. If I remember correctly the filler neck is behind the license plate. Correct??? If it is, normally there will be a hose from the top of the tank to the top of the filler neck. Those most in the "Know" are at www.65GS.com. You could ask there & get an "Exact" answer.
