215 or 300 Aluminum Intake

I picked up an Aluminum 4BBL intake last year with a casting #358983, and I'm not sure if it is for a 215 or 300? Are they interchangable as I have a stock 64 300/2BBL....Thanks Much!

no, the 300 has a taller deck. this means that it requires a wider intake.

you could probably adapt 215 intake with spacer plates.

this is not likely a Buick casting number, as Buick castings tend to be seven digits.

you could be one digit short, in which case it could be a 1963 4v for a 215ci. "1358983"

the only factory aluminum intakes and heads for a 300 were the one year only 1964 castings.

you can verify whether or not it's compatible simply by taping the distance between the front bolts on the intake manifolds and comparing them.

The 215 intake uses a separate valley cover. The 300 intake has front and rear sealing rails that match the engine block. The part number for the 300 intake is 1359122, right on top of the manifold. Just so you know, the ports on the aluminum intake and head, as well as the valves for '64 are way smaller than the '65 and up. You need an iron 1965 factory intake.
