Sounds like a problem with the ignition system. Have you checked all of the plugs, wires, cap, rotors, timing, and points?

hey guys.first of all thanks for all the help i get off this site.well i swaped out the hopped up cam for the origional on my 64 300.its running good now.but if you try to spin the tires or get on it from a dead stop, the motor kinda shakes and it feels restricted somehow.like its not giving everything it has at first.once you build up speed and get going theres no problem, it runs good.only when you start to take off does it do this.any ideas.all help appreciatefd

wouldnt it do that all the time though if it was an ignition problem?
what entails "hopped up" with the cam? does the car have an automatic trans? the RPM range of the cam may not be jiving with the torque converter. basically, with the new cam the power range is too high and the trans is driving the car before the motor is making good HP (this giving it that gutless feeling right off the line). if this is the case, investing in a higher rpm torque converter would be good (TCI, etc). it may also be the timing. check it, then play a bit for what feels best--try a few degrees advance or retard so you know what makes the car happy.
thanks guys
