I am finally ready to fix my 293 rear end diff and am trying to remember some info because it has been about 10 years since it broke. I have been running a skylark rear but I want to get the original rear back in. My ring gear has a number printed on it, 1382267 41 14 GMC. I can’t find this part number anywhere or an illustration of the parts. Does anyone have info on this 10 bolt 8.2 B.O.P. ???? Also, if I have to change the gear ratios, can I go to a 355? Thanks.

Here is an exploded parts view of a typical mid-60s rear end.

Buick sold the ring and pinion gear only as a matched set. That would explain why the ring gear part no 1382267 doesn't appear in any parts lists (1382265 is the part no for the differential case and does show up in lists).

The part no of the 2.93 '67 GS gear set is 1396953. There should be another number on the ring gear and the pinion gear showing the serial number of the individual gear set.
