Major restoration 2018-2024. The car comes with a tremendous amount of spare parts and accessories, historical car information, schematics, instructions, systems diagrams, documentation, receipts, etc. A unique opportunity to track or race a GTP/Camel Lights car with history from the pinnacle era of sportscar racing.
This chassis 102 was one of 7 built for the Camel Gt series by Argo-Anglia in England. Sponsored by Buick, it ran 10 Camel GTP races in 1984-85 including the Daytona 24 Hours, with its best GTP finish 4th. It was then converted to a Camel Lights spec and did 10 more races through 1985 finishing 1st at Watkins Glen and 1st at Laguna Seca. The car was driven by Charles Morgan, Bill Alsup, Whitney Ganz and later owned by HANS device co-developer and Argo Camel Lights champion Jim Downing. The cockpit fits my 6’1” 185# frame.
Complete engine rebuild by the Lozano Brothers, who had built the original GTP/Lights Buick engines for Charles Morgan and this Argo chassis. New INDY heads from Ohio George Montgomery.
All new parts/systems incl: ACCEL DFI engine management with laptop, MSD ignition, Kinsler EFI, ITG air filters, Bosch injectors and fuel lines, oil lines, all new sensors. New Great Lakes Aero windscreen/windows.
Added: vent louvres to nose, mirrors, splitters, headlights, windshield wiper, rain light. New battery.
Recharged SPA Technique fire bottle, new Schroth 6 point driver belts.
Black livery with decals matching the set from the 1985 Sun Bank Daytona 24 Hrs race.
Goodyear tires on car, and another set of mounted new Hoosiers, all on BBS 3 piece centerlock wheels
