the 1970 455 was factory rated at 510 lb-ft but from 71 on GM was cutting compression to meet emissions standards.
i would think the 73 would still be ~ 490 lb-ft. of course, you should expect an increase with headers.
meh, just checked with Muscle Car Club and they say that between the emissions and the change to SAE ratings (net torque) the 1973 is 390 lb-ft. should be approx 460 at the flywheel.
also, i've heard tell that a 200R4 will bolt up to the 455 if you want an extra gear. whether or not you're interested in dealing with the R4's reliability problems is up to you.
