    9 key way timing set

could someone please help clear the air on this timing set. I want to set this up straight up with a gs113a cam, ive heard talk that advance is built into the cam or into the gear set.

That's why it is MANDATORY to degree the cam, any cam. That cam has a 113 LSA, so you would need to degree the intake lobe to 109*. That will make it 4* advanced. If you want to put it in straight up, degree the intake lobe to 113* There is no way to know which key way will work for you, hence the degreeing process.

The 113A has 4* of advance ground into it. That means it should be at 109* on the intake when using 0 advance in the gear set. There is enough variance in cam grinds and cam gears that you will not know for sure unless you degree it in as Larry suggested.
