Red is correct.Never seen gray in any car.
I am a little confused about the engine colour of my 70 Buick 350-4bbl. All the research I ve done says it should be red, yet the whole engine is grey? This engine came out of a 70 Buick Lesabre, I don t know if that makes a difference and I have not found a "engine colour chart" that is specific to the Buick Engines. ALL the numbers/codes on the block / Intake and cylinder heads are all correct for this engine, yet the colour seems wrong. -Thanks JIM

i've also got block colors on the Engine ID list but ... i copied that info from various places. can't vouch for accuracy:

also, there are some years where the Riv has it's own engine colors. you can read through the Riv history to pull that info out but i don't think they've isolated the data into a graph:

This weekend I will take some pictures -with all the Numbers / Codes. It is 100 % a Buick engine, just can't figure out why it would be grey. And --to me --It does NOT look as if its been repainted. Thanks JIM
I talked to guy from whom I bought the engine. What he told me was, that the engine was totally rebuilt sometime around 1985-86. At that time, the buick dealership did not have the correct
"Buick red" in stock, so the owner had the dealership spray it grey. It took awhile ,but I finally got the answer to my question.
