    the other timing cover...

Anyone running the new PROFORM timing cover ? I have been told they sell for around $300. The thread on the V8 board was shut down because of issues with TA & PROFORM, one was a paying vendor on the board & the other was not .It was thought that one copied the other. Well I am just interested on how the PROFORM cover adds up to the TA

    Thanks

    Mark

Looking for the cover you describe, I found this one by Silver Steal Products:
    http://www.silver-seal.com/product/T...ing-Cover.html

But I cannot find anywhere to get a Proform timing cover...

    I did find a reference on a build sheet for a 455.

so why not get the best price you can if they both preform the same ?

well, if Proform used a TA piece to create their molds it's theft of intellectual property.

otoh, Bobb Makley ( of Finishline ) says that he suggested improvements on the prototype they showed him.

    so, i dunno.

    OK, I found it: http://www.finishlinemotorsports.com/

The T/A one is here: http://www.taperformance.com/proddet...rod=TA%5F1531B

I don't have experience with either, I had thought that T/A's had a large oil pump cast in, but I don't see it in this description and I notice that the Proform mentions a high volume pump like it may be an add on plate style.

T/A's relocated fuel pump could be nice. I am not sure the cam bumper boss maters if you want to really stop cam walk (you might be better to just do it as described in the Buick books).

    the other cover...

Thanks Bob for your input on the TA cover & the Proform cover. I have only used the TA cover. But at the price of the Proform cover it would be a option. bob k. mando ... if TA performance used a GM casting to create their housing mold & then made the updates to it is this then theft of intellectual property? Does TA have a pat # on the covers they build? Well the bottom line for me is I don,t care about a pissing match over who did what, I just want to find a board with members that care about what does what !!

    ick.

Maybe no one out there is running this cover in the real world... just in hand checked form by FinishlineMotorsports, I'm not sure & am hoping for some feedback on this issue.

Thanks Bob M. for your reply
