    timing cover 455

are all 70,s era timing covers the same for the buick 455 ,mine is 1975 according to code on block "go fast with class"

all Buick big block ( 400, 430, 455 ) timing covers are the same from 1967-1976. that's the entire production run.

www.TAPerformance.com sells a brand new cover with significant redesigns and much better flow but it's also pretty steep ( ~$500 ).

do some searching for oil passage mods that can be made to the cover.

except for the oil passages. The early ones had 1/2" and the late ones had 5/8". The early ones can be drilled out to 5/8" if desired.

High volume pumps are the major cause of cam bearing failure in Buick engines and for this reason are not recomended for use by TA Perforamce, the major mgf of Buick performance parts.

    not high volume

thanks for advice the pump i got off e bay is not a high volume pump but is same as stock ansd am using spring that gives me good pressure @ idle of 20 lbs thanks don't want to ruin my car!"go fast with class"

this is the way to do it, yes. with a custom spring or shims you can push enough pressure on the stock pump to blow the filter open.

there are several mods that can be made to the timing cover and block to aid oil flow.
