    350 intake install question

Can someone tell me the procedure for installing the valley pan gasket and such for the 350 intake, also need to know torque specs and tightening sequence and any tips that would be helpful....Thanks Oh this is just a stock 2 barrel intake, not aftermarket.......

The valley pan is very easy , just push it down into the valley and there will be four tabs that lock under the edge of the cylinder head to hold it in place . I would use a sealer like Copper Coat on the areas that need to seal between the intake and heads . On the ends instead of using the rubber seal suppllied , I would clean those areas rel good and apply a bead of black silicone sealant then set the intake on . Start all the bolts and snug down starting in the center alternating from side to side and outward to the ends . Not sure of the torque but can look it up in manual . Very simple once you get into it .

35 ft. lb. torque. I tighten in steps. First go around at 20 to 25 then next round at the 35. Go back and use the same sequence until all are at 35. The center 4 lose their torque as you tighten the others outward. Use a good sealer on both sides of the metal gasket at the coolant ports.

Make sure that you seal it right. Check with a vacum gauge should have at least 15 or more.

Make sure you use vacuum gage to check seal . A bit off subject , my son and I built an LT-1 for his Camaro and the intake would not seal on lower side . tried 3 different type intake gaskets and NO seal . Trailered car to machine shop and they checked angle from block to intake side of head and was out of limits . Heads had been angle milled and we did not know until then . Had to have intake milled to match . What a major mess and pain .
