    need help with cam selection

I`m running a 68 430 on my airboat. I had an oil pump problem and the distributor drive gear and the distributor gear ate each other. I have to buy a new cam and want to know if I can get a little more out of it. The cam is a crower It has a 464 lift and 270 degree duration on the intake and 488 with 276 duration exhaust and a 112 lobe separation. Can I go bigger and get more useable power with the stock valve train and .030 stock dished pistons? The motor will never see more than around 4700 rpm. I was thinking about the ta288-92h it has a 508 lift with 288 duration on the intake and 508 lift with a 292 duration on the exhaust and a 110 lobe separation.I have the edelbrock intake and a edelbrock 750 on it,headers and hei,the boat runs great now but just looking for a little more, you know how that goes It`s a hydraulic cam. Also what is the stock rocker ratio? thanks for anyy help

    430 or not

Hi I was researching the racing sites about the 430 and they had the same trouble you had the oil pickup. So they dumped the 430 and used the 455.
    Food for thought Cheers.
