    it will fit

find a 4x4 6.2 diesel tranny. the 455 will bolt right to it. you will probably have to make engine mounts. the stock radiator will work. should be able to do this for cheap

mine is a t-350,chevy pattern, hence the adapter plate.also have been advised the valve bodys are different between diesel & gas.and the other guys that have done the swap have advised notching the frame for servicing the oil pump.mines got new gears, adjustable regulator & booster plate & i plan on using a remote filter relocating kit on the fenderwell.unless i drop the motor in my suncoupe first

a derivative of the Olds 350 diesel then? that's good to know.

i'm still somewhat surprised that GM didn't bother with the rather minor design change necessary to make the back of the block mate to the Chevy standard bell.

There was an diesel engine based on the Oldsmobile 350 engine in the 80s, but the GM 6.2 diesel was built by Detroit Diesel/Allison. It was built from the the start as a diesel and is a heavy duty diesel engine. I have experience with both engines. There is more information here.

okay, what's your opinion on the salient point ... that there are 700r4 tranny's with a BOPC pattern?

i see wikipedia shows that newer 700r4's ( err, 4L60 actually ) use a bolt on bell so it wouldn't be that difficult to fab up a BOPC bell to put on one.

The 6.2 has a Chevy bolt pattern. The 350 conversion diesel engine has a BOP pattern. I am not aware of any 700R4 with a BOP/Chevy pattern. The 700R4 was used in Chevy/GMC applications exclusively. BOP used the BOP/Chevy 200-4R for their OD vehicles.
