I was getting some noise from my 62 Buick that turned out to be the power steering pump.
Gentlemen,
I am a proud owner of a 77 Riviera. Helas, that model was only build in 77 and 78. Later models have front wheel drive.
The 403 ci engine is an Olds, and i'm in doubt what to do with it. It makes a strange noise : it is not realy a grinding noise nor buzzing. The waterpump and generator are new. I removed the belt to the A/C compressor. I had the transmission (TH400) rebuild to new 50 miles ago.
The engine idles fine ... but that noise!
Important. If i don't start the motor for a few days and then fire it up it takes about 10 seconds for the noise to come up.
Any idea's, suggestions and comment on the 403 engine are very welcome.
Is it worth to rebuild it? Keep in mind I live in Belgium and every part has to be shipped fom the USA.
Also advice on where to buy. Reliability! It's not easy to send back wrong parts etc.
Long post... hope to get some reply.
Thank you very much!
Tony
