    special? super?

Is a 40 series a special and a 50 series a super? I have been looking at 1950 buicks and they have been presented as a 50 0r a 40. To me a 40 is a special and a 50 is a super. ( 46s is a special). Is it me or maybe these cars are by mistake are presented as 50's when they are 40"s. I am a little confused, could someone help. Thanks

They pretty much remain the same.

in the 50's 40 series was a special
    50 was a super
    60 was a century and
    70's was a Roadie.

I you go to our"Reference" HERE, and follow the various links on the "Years" chart, you will notice that the first two numbers of the model number parallel the series.

Generally people just round them of to 40, 50, etc..

    Hope that helps!

    Wink

    Hey 55 Buick

You car is a '55 Special 2 door Hard top.

The Model # for your car is 46R

The "R" signifies the "Rivieria" which was a Package included in all Hardtops during that era.

The package contained significant trim and accessory upgrades compaired to the base model.

By the way, your picture indicates that you have "One Sweet Ride"

    Regards,
