i'm sorry, i had a brain fart.
in 1970 the engine was NOT coded in the VIN ... but the GS455 was a seperate model NOT a trim option. so it DOES show up in the VIN.
the VIN still wouldn't tell you whether or not you had a Stage 1 engine though.
the first 3 digits of your VIN should be "446".
the engine doesn't look 'good'. in 1970 the intake, block and heads would all be painted a deep Red. most all of the Blue engines are from 1975/76.
can you pull a valve cover and get us the casting number for the head? post the block and intake numbers as well.
