I have a 66 skylark with the 300 engine. I am going to change it to front disc brakes and rebuilt the front suspension. Should I upgrade to tubular control arms, or reuse the stock ones after a rebuild? The car is just a cruiser and not high performance. What are your thoughts on this? I am on the fence , and wanted advice from someone who may have done it. Any regrets? Thank you for your time
 
I wouldn't worry about the A-arms, if you want to spend more money, try a heavier sway bar, or add a rear sway bar, or both. If you car still has the aluminum front drums on it, and they are still serviceable, don't throw them away!
 
I can get you sway bars no problem.
Another positive upgrade is a faster ratio steering box along with good shocks.
You won't believe the difference!!!

Thanks for the reply. I have up graded the front sway bar, and added a back bar. My car has cast front drums not the aluminum ones. I am going to stick with the stock arms. Thank you for the insight.

I have up graded the sway bars on the old girl . It made a big difference. I have been looking at a faster steering box, any recommendations, old type rebuild or newer model box? Also any recommendation for good front shocks, I don't know what kind is on it now. Thanks again for your input.
 
Is the steering box on a 66 Skylark the same as a 66 Chevelle? If it is a steering box from a Grand Cherokee bolts right on and it is a big improvement.
