1972 skylark disc brake conversion

I am restoring a 1972 buick skylark and would like to change the front drum brakes to disc. What donor cars do I need to look for. Would rather go with 11 inch rotors than 10 inch. Also would like to change front bench seat to bucket seats with console.

Monte Carlo is a good donor car for disc. Or other GM a body 70-72. Pretty limited.

I set up one car with used spindles and stuff. On my next car, I went to eBay and bought a complete kit. It ended up costing less to get all the new stuff, and easier to work with new parts.

Make sure you get a new distribution valve on the frame, different from drum.

The problem with swapping in a stock disc setup is that the A-bodies didn't have discs as standard equipment before 1973. This means that the installation rates were low and donor cars will be hard to find. Conversion kits have the advantage that they use parts from later years when discs were standard. Replacement parts will easier to find and less expensive.

Disc brake conversion

Yeah, after doing a lot of research I think you are right. Buying a new conversion kit is the way to go. Probably will be cheaper in the long run with less problem installing it. Lots on kits out there from different manufactors.
