    Hey guys,
I just got brand new brake drums from Kanter. Will I still have to arc the shoes or do new shoes fit new drums? Thanks for any help.

they will be ok, but for best performance, the shoes should be arced. doing this, ensures the drums and shoes are truly a matched set.

    Question Arced Shoes

    Hey Heidi

How do they "Arc" the Shoes?

I suppose they have to be bent or shaped to match the inside circumfrence of the drums?

I imagine that this has to be done on some type of machine.

    Regards,

Hey guys. I had my Buick back for a day but sadly the tranny was still leaking so back to the mechanic it went. It was leaking much slower but still way more then it should. I hope to get it back very soon. I can't wait to get started on this brake job. I just checked out all my stuff. Those new drums are great. Shiny brand new. Heidi. Sorry to beat a dead horse but I put the shoes inside the drum and it was a perfect fit. Should I arc them? Is it a microsopic thing that you can't see with the naked eye because they look flush all the way around. Anyways thanks so much for all the advice. I'll let you guys know what day I'm going to do the work. Hopefully someone will be around for an emergency question.

it sounds like the shoes and drums are a pretty close match. if you cannot rock the shoes back and forth inside the drum and there is no gap at the center of the shoe, you should be ok.
