Putting small block Chevy in 64 Riviera

Does anyone know what I have to change in order to drop a small block chevy in a 64 Riviera??? If just the motor mounts do you know the part numbers??

your transmission will have a Nailhead bellhousing and will not bolt up to the Chevy. i suspect you'll need to get a long tail TH400 to match the driveshaft length.

i'm not sure, but you'd better examine the placement of your belt driven accessories. some Buicks have almost everything mounted on the opposite side of the engine compartment in relation to the Chevy. this can result in rewiring a bunch of stuff.

The chevy Small Block is a very nice engine and a very huge choice for people who are looking for High performance vehicles...although, if you got the original motor under the hood of the riv, you can do quite a bit to it to make it pretty fast, and plus, it's a big block! As the saying goes..."there's no replacement for displacement"... The best thing to do is to keep your buick 100 percent Buick!

Just a little advice...goodluck on whatever your decision may be!

I don't know for the life of me why you would want to replace the original "Nailhead".

Not only are you making a LOT of extra work for yourself, added unnecessay expense and devalueing you car in the process

    replace the nail?

I'm guessing you want something easy to get parts for, the power and lack of torque with the small block will be a big change in drivability!

I'll gladly take the nail off your hands if you go with this plan
