    AC Compressor Clutch Air Gap

I have a 96 Park Ave Ultra and lately the AC Pulley and clutch are scraping real bad. When the AC engages the scraping goes away, and depending on the weather ( warm / Cold) seems to scrape at different levels. What course of action do I take here. I can put a new compressor and clutch on it or is there a way to adjust the air gap. When this occurs, does this inply a pending failure of the compressor. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like it's on the way out . No need to try to adjust the air at this stage . Good luck .

The clutch can be changed by itself without having to change the whole compressor. If you buy the clutch kit, some will not come with the new washers (spacers) for the air gap so make sure you save the old. The kit comes with a new magneto/belt pulley and the outer steel disk (the thing that is scraping). Its pretty simple to change as long as you have the room in the engine compartment. Only tools needed is a socket set and snap ring plyers. Good luck
