    Power steering setup

Guys, i was wondering if a power steering setup from a 1956 oldsmobile could be used on my 1955 buick special with manual steering. I know from some reading in my 55 buick shop book that the power steering setup is basically a manual system that has a power steering setup added onto it. Including the pump and brakes, hoses, ect ect. Since alot of the parts from a olds match up with alot of parts from a buick. I was wondering if this is possible. It doesnt seem to be a hard add on itself. Any help, info, advice or knowledge would be greatley appreciated. thanks kc

I think you may find differences. A pump assembly from a '53-55 Olds is the same.

    Buick Power Steering

Saw your question concerning power steering for 55 Special. Not sure its the same, none-the-less I saw a complete 55 Buick Roadmaster at Starks Auto Salvage in Dayton, Ohio. It had power steering and brakes. Also saw a 55 or 56 Caddy with factory air at Starks, the type mounted in truk.

Lightbulb 1955 Buick Power Steering Set-Up

    Hey KMC

    Hey Dude. Whats Happenin'?

    I would stick with a Buick Set-up.

The Olds might be the same but the brackets will be different.(Olds motor is quite a bit different)

I looked at a '56 olds part on e-bay and the fluid cannister was the same but the remainder looked quite a bit different.

    I would stick with a 1954-1956 264-322 "Nailhead" set-up.

    Better safe than sorry.

    Regards,
