desireability plays a big part here. which would you rather have, a hemi or a slant six? in this case, how unique is this I8 and how much do you want it? the vendor desires to sell you 'potential', but you are buying 'risk' in a piece of cast iron both of you know will not operate in its present condition. what assurances do you have that there are no cracks in the block or head? let's say your seller accepts $50-$100 for the engine. fresh oil, plugs, points, plug wires, carb kit, etc. is going to double your investment.

i certainly wouldn't pay more than $100.00 for it, nor would that be my first offer.

    Smile stuck engine

the value is usually in eye of the beholder,it could be from $5 up to $100.i have a 48 248 in good condition and the value around here is about $150.have the engine level when you apply whatever detergent you use as to get an even soak.you can get lots of detergents on the market but a mixture of wd-40 and coka cola is good.good luck

The Thing Of It Is That I Don't Need The Motor Nor Do I Need Parts Off Of It, But Thought Maybe Would Be Nice To Rebuild Or Part Out Someday, I Don't Know How Rare These Motors Are Or How Hard They Are To Rebuild But Still Would Be Nice To Try It, I Do Know That Alot Of People Are Taking Them Out And Puttin Bigger Motors In Them But Why Fix What's Not Broke!!! :d

    1937 Special Straight Eight

I have an engine and transmission from a 1937 Buick Special that needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Anyone have any input on where to start? Where do you get parts? Does anyone have another engine in Ohio for sale? Any secrets to rebuilding this engine and transmission?
