    Fuel Pump

Ok........anyone else had trouble locating fuel pumps for the 1950's era Buicks/

Mine decided to start spraying fuel when I was off island, unable to locate a new pump and unable to bring it home on the boat until I got it fixed. I had to remove the pump, send it to Then and Now Automotive, and they rebuilt it for me. I now need to get back off island to the shop where I have placed it whil egetting the pump rebuilt to re-install the pump.

    Anyone else had this problem?

Unhappy Re: Dual Action Fuel Pumps

    Hey Robert

    How U' Doin"?

Those Dual Action Fuel Pumps are a Problem.

They are Just Not Available over the Counter.

There are a few places that have them but You Pay through the nose and have to send them Your Core.

There are Rebuild Kits Available, and they aren't Real Expensive or Difficult to Rebuild.

I Bought one on E-Bay for cheep Money ($25-$30 Bucks) and Re-built it. Now I have an Extra for the Shelf.

I Did the Same for thing with A Starter and a Generator. I have Extras for the Shelf.

About a Month ago I Posted a Article on How to Re-build a Starter. It really turned out Splendid. Bought a Rebuild Kit for the Starter and Solenoid. I wasn't that hard to do. No extra Shipping or Core Costs.

You Mentioned that You did Business with Then and Now Automotive in Weymouth, MA. I believe that You have done business with that Firm before and I believe that I recomended Them.

    Are They a Good Vendor/Supplier?

    Do They do Good Work?

Do they do the work on a timely basis? (Quick Turn-A-Round)

Just wondering how Your Experience doing business with them was?

I know they make all sorts of claims but Performance is another Issue and I was wondering if they make Good?

Hey, If You eever need a hand with something, I not that far away, Give me a Shout. I'm willing if able to HELP! a Fellow Buick Brother out!

    Regards,

    Thumbs up Then & Now

I had great service, quick turn around, and the part looke dlike it was brand new out of the box when I got it back. My issue was traveling off island to install the pump. Finished the install of the pump today and brought the vehicle back on the boat today with ease.

I would def do business with Then & Now again if needed

    Question Re: Then & Now

    Hi Robert.

    That's Good to Know!

    Were They Terribly Expensive?

Did You Ship the Pump up to Weymouth?

    How Did You Ship it?

The thing must have reaked of Gasoline.

    Thumbs up Shipping Fuel Pump

I removed the pump from the vehicle, drained as best I could, sealed it in a ziplock bag, sealed it in another ziplock bag, wrapped the whole thing in newspaer and placed in a box.

Used the U.S. Mail as the carrier of choice.

Only cost around $90.00 for the rebuild and that included the kit.

To get a kit to do it yourself they need the numbers off the pump which I had provided for them. I got a wrong kit (the pivot pin was to short) but when I called them and explained what was going on, they said ship it up and they would take care of it.

They got in on a Wednesday, I got it back the next Monday. They did good by me
