Thread: What is your favorite non-Buick car?

  1. #21

    Datsun 240/302?

My all time favorite (eventho' it wasn't "factory") was a car my cousin bought because the original owner had tried to go fast too many times!! It was (I forget the year) a 240Z car and the inline 6 was really tired!! He had a 302 FORD that he was building for a street rod project: 11.5 to 1 pistons, .060 rebore, etc. and we shoehorned that baby into that 240Z! Talking about "Fun and Excitement [pardons to PONTIAC]"!!! Those rearends in those things can take quite a beating!!!
I am a little fond of FORDS since they are alsoresponsible for some well built cars during the 60's and 70's taht I was a young pup driver and thus my influence! I once owned a 71' Thunderbird with a 429 HO!! It was a cruiser, but also would tear the eyeballs when juiced!! I miss it too!!

have always loved the 57 ford fairlane 500 2dr. hts. have a fully restored one with 312 3spd od, black and white. prone to outrages rust, and short lived, oil leaking, burning, blue smoking, overheating, hard starting, clacking ( did i leave anything out?) engines.... i still love em. bust one i ever saw advertised a few years ago was a covertable up in michigan with a 401 buick and th4oo.

What's this...we only get to pick "ONE?" That's too tough for me to even conceive! There are so many, many cars that I have said time & time again that I'd like to own before I leave this planet...!!!!!!!

Either this or the 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedance de Ville owned in the movie by Auric Goldfinger (007) made of solid gold for starters... & this doesn't even begin to touch on the American beauties or other foreign beauties I have on my wish list!?!?!

There are ton of choices for this...but, I'm fairly obsessed with the Subaru WRX Sti's right now. So I'll go with that!

Other than my Ford Explorer, I love the old Toronados. Especially 66-72 and the 79-85. I have a 1985 Toronado. Last one with front wheel drive and the V8. Any old cruisers and muscle cars make this guy's heart beat faster but there is nothing like a Buick.

I love my '85 LeSabre and my '68 Newport...but I would have to say that my all time favorite non-Buick ride would be something I could never afford, like a '60 Ferrari 250 GT SWB or the dead sexiest car ever made by human hands, the '62 Ferrari 250 GTO.

Gotta be from the 50s!! - or as I often refer to that decade: 'the pinnacle of civilisation'. My fave would be the '57 Chevy Bel Air. In fact, that's pretty much the car I went out expecting to buy at my local classic car dealership - but somehow I came home with a '60 Buick Invicta. Wicked styling on both cars - love 'em to bits.

ps - OK, most absolute ultimate car would have to be from the Concept category. The Lincoln Futura was great (it became the Batmobile after Barris got hold of it); and I was once privileged to see in the flesh a trio of concept cars made for Alfa Romeo in the late 50s, each one a different experiment in the extremes of aerodynamic styling (e.g huge curving fins which meet in the middle to form a huge arch at the back of the car). They were like miniature spaceships - the Jetsons would have driven them!! Saw them in a specialist showroom in London, and they sold soon after to a collector for more than $5 million. Yeah - I want THOSE!!

When I need to chase parts for my Buicks I try to always use this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL 406 HP, tri power and long branch cast headers.
