I've looked in Summit and PAW and several other places for building my 350 (1969 skylark 4dr) and all i find is stuff for Chevy SB's and no mention of Buick. Am I looking in the wrong catalogs or is the engine actually a chevy 350??

no, the buick 350 is absolutely not a chevy 350. aside from such bolt on parts as the carb / alternator / power steering pump there aren't ANY parts that interchange between these engines (not even the transmissions as chevy uses a 5 bolt pattern for the bell housing). buick 350s were produced from 68 up to ~81.

the same answer applies to olds and pontiac 350s (that they are different from each other AND the other GM 350s) although buick, olds and pontiac can all use the same transmissions as they use the so called BOP (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) 6 bolt bell housing.

SBB buick aftermarket stuff is really sparse but you should try www.taperformance.com, www.paeenterprises.com (for building advice) or www.postonbuick.com

i have seen a couple of SBBs built to over 600hp and there's even a turbo'ed unreinforced block buick 350 that's gone over 1000hp. so there is definite potential there ... it's just that it can be expensive to get too.

quick note, Summit Racing does carry performance parts but they are not listed in their catalog. As I was told years ago, "if we put everything we have in the catalog it would be larger than the phone book for NYC". I build Olds motors and have to call to get the parts I need. Very seldom are they in the catalog but they are in stock. You could try calling them and ask for a tech. Just tell him what you have and are looking to do.
