    hey, im putting a new carb on my car. right now it has a manual choke. if i were to get an electrical choke....how does that hook up to the car and is it hard to do? i dont understand how it could work electrically...cause im a youngin hah.

    I don't think I have to tell you that you need a carb made for an electric choke,converting a manual choke carb to electric is impossible

    electric choke are very simple.
    as soon as you turn your ignition on power is send to a metal spring inside the choke housing, this current heats up the metal spring which holds the choke plate closed and it expands (uncoils) and allows the chokeplate to slowly open.
    as soon as you stop the car the spring cools down again and expands and try to close the choke but a pawl on the carb stops the choke from closing.
    (Thats the reason wy before starting a cold car you need to push the throttle pedal once this unlocks the pawl and lets the choke plate close fully)
