If it helps, the 'S' terminal is grounded during start. The battery terminal should be a large stud and the S terminal is probably a #8 or #10 stud. Others probably know more than I do.
got a 82 buick century 3.0L v6. my brother removed my starter and didnt any of the wires. i know that the top post on the solenoid goes directly to battery. the one marked with the "s" im not sure where that one leads to. is the alternator someway connected in there. also does the ignition wire go on the top post or side one. any help will be appreciated. i need my car to work.

i'm not famaliar with the 82, however let me suggest a rather crude but simple approach. go to your local pic a part yard. track the wiring and make your own schematic. if you can't find your particular car, do this on 2-3 vehicles from the same family of vehicles as your car. although the wiring will not look particularily the same from one car to another, eventually, the wires lead to the same components.
