My ex-wife has a 2000 Buick Regal. The tire pressure light comes on when she goes on long trips. The tire pressure is fine and she resets it only to have it go on again on the next long trip. Is the sensor bad? Is there really a problem with the tires? What needs to be done so this stops happening?
My guess is one of her tires could be slightly different in size to the others. The computer counts how many revolutions each tire makes and if one is different it will set the light. All four tires need to have the exact same pressure. It could be something wrong with the computer also but probably not. The easiest thing to do is measure each tire around the tread. I don't know how many miles are on the tires or if all four tires are the same brand name but that could make a difference. All four tires should be the same kind and have the same miles on them. Also the tires should be rotated every so often or maybe the fronts or rears could wear faster than the others and cause this.
