i've got this buick century custom, a transmission mount is broken/missing (or so says my mechanic) but i've gotten under there and looked, yet i can't see where there's anything "gone". i can feel the effects of it at 55-80mph but can't figure out where to put it. i can't afford what my mechanic is going to ask to replace it, so i want to put it in/replace it myself, he says it's a ten minute application. so what i need is a schematic, picture from the underside, something, anything to show me what i'm looking for, so that i'll be able to get it at the parts store.

The 4t60 has 2 transmission mounts, both are on the driver's side. One of them is at the front of the transmission, which is pretty easy to change. The other is at the side of the transmission, behind the wheel.
You'll need to support the engine and transmission so that you can take the mount(s) off.
