Well I hate to admit this but I was stumped on my overheating problem ...
Replaced everything (EVERYTHING) to do with the cooling .. even new 4 core radiator.
I also checked the exhaust valve heat riser valve to see it was moving open/closed on warm up.
Thought I would let you know you can't see the flap inside the valve moving .... only the lever.
Yep Check for stuck/frozen shut exhaust valve heat riser valve ... shaft was stuck and only lever was moving ....
Just something that could happen to you .. I hope it doesn't... was a pain drilling out the bolts etc ...
Still it has fixed my problem
Try this-drain the water out of the motor and block-drill a 1/4" hole in the thermostat and restart the motor while filling with water.Mine was airlocked in the back of the head and caused alot of overheating and many hours of frustration and rechecking the water system.
