The gear set on the rear axle of my 1963 Skylark is blown. Any suggestions on where to find a set to replace it? It's ring/pinion, gear ratio of 3.36, 25 splines.
I've always been able to find parts before, but this one's got me stumped. I'd sure appreciate any guidance you can offer.

Good luck Chris. Anything driveline for a 63 is going to be a pain. I dont know exactly why but it's true. The 2 piece propellar shaft is a bad design. I've chased my vibration from Motor mounts to u-joints, shaft balance to dwell angle etc..and now I have a dead Tranny mount and a tired shaft bearing collar. Can't get it at the autozone..lol
Chris, there is a NOS set available from the Buick Farm www.buickfarm.com for $150. But it's a 3.08 ratio.
It shows up under parts group 5.529

Would a set with a 3.08 ratio work? Any potential problems with that substitution?
Another option is to buy a whole used rear axle assembly from a '63 Skylark. One downside with that is I don't know what kind of condition the gear set is in (and the seller's not making any promises).
you can also get a set from richmond gears i got a set for my 66 skylark and looked liek they had older and im running a 3.73
