Hey guys. I have a 1969 buick skylark and I'm going to be replacing my tranny from a th350 to a th400. The thing is I would like to replace the collum shifter with a floor shifter, (For esthetics and some good old fun). The thing is that there's an nice glove departmet thing between the driver and passenger seat that I would like to keap. It there some way I can have both? I don't want to put the shifter way up front because I don't want put put my teath into the stearing wheel everytime I shift down to get that extra kick. Where and how can arrange this?
Thanks.
Short of chopping and reupholstering the console, you might consider a console style shifter, which would likely take much less modification to the console. I've got a B&M ratcheting shifter for my th400 tranny and I absolutely love it. B&M does make some console mounts as well, also ratcheting, and you can check them out here:

From their home page, click on products and then click on automatic shifter. I've got the 'quicksilver' model in my 49 Roadmaster, which also comes in a console mount version. Also available as a console mount is the 'Megashifter' model.
Hope this helps........Tony
