    Question

Hi all, question. Windlace around the doors
does new windlace come with enough material
to glue it on? Who has it? New subject.
pad material on the floor risers next to each door. What is it made of and where do
I get it? Both windlace and pads are totally gone on my Buick. Thanks Loren

    Hello Loren.
The windlace that is on either side of the center door post was actually sewn to a thin piece of cardboard that hooked onto a couple of tabs in the metal to hold it in place. This went under the upholstered panel on the door post. The front windlace had a piece of piping sewn into it that slid into a metal channel. This channel is part of the piece that holds the rear edge of the kick panels. The rear windlace stapled to a tack strip behind the rear side panel.
I am not clear on the padding you are referring to. If it is on the side of the floor pan by the door openings, it could be either the sound deadener or the carpet padding. If you can be a bit more descriptive concerning this part, I can probably be more help in this area.
Let me know if you have other questions. Best of luck with your restoration.
    Best Regards,
    Ron

    Question

Hi Ron, Thanks hopefully I can get the windlace in the correct place and method.
Other subject was as far as I can determine
was a pad or deadner about 3 inches wide
and maybe 14 or 16 long. It was located just
above the flat floor and on the rising floor
toward the rocker joint. That rising piece
probably angles 30 or 35 degrees from the
floor pan to the opening of the door or
where the rocker panel is joined to the floor
    Thanks Loren

    Hello Loren.
What you describe sounds like sound deadener material. This can be bought in sheets from many parts stores or carpet manufacturers. The one that comes to mind is Auto Custom Carpets. I think that their sound deadener sheets are only about $25 for the 54" X 69" size. That should do your whole car. The material is called eva.
    Best Regards,
    Ron
