    Question

    The body tag on my GS 400 has me confused. The trim code reads SCC 1987, and the paint code reads T-8. Can anyone help me ? Gary

    Gary; The T on the cowl tag is the exterior paint colour which would indicate "Desert Beige" (PPG code 81617). I'm not sure about the 8 but it may refer to the colour of the top, does your skylark have a vinyl top. I have some info for 67 at home that might help out, so if no one else knows, I'll post another reply.

    Sorry Gary;
    I can't seem to find out what the 8 refers to on the cowl tag. If you can find someone with a Fisher Body Manual for your year, they could probably find out. FYI if you need paint codes for any other projects, check out this link:

    Gary, the interior trim code shoud be a three-digit number beginning with 1. 198 was not a valid GS400 trim code. The code gives the color and seat construction (notchback or bucket). All GS 400 interiors were done in vinyl. For the Desert Beige exterior, four interior colors were available on the hardtop; two on the convertible.

    Does the trim code stamping look like factory original? Anytime I see the letters SCC, it makes me think of the abbreviation for Sports Car Club.

    The 8 in the paint code indicates an Avocado vinyl top or convertible top. This color top was available with the Desert Beige lower body color.
