Thread: Dynaflow whine

Well, I finally tore out the busted up dynaflow in my 52 Special and installed one I got off another 52 parts car. The tranny runs great. There's not one leak in the system. The only problem I'm having is that the new tranny is letting out a whine pretty much at all RPM ranges. It increases when the RPMs increase. It's not "over the top" loud, but it's loud enough to make me wonder what it is. I've talked to a few people about it. One guy thinks the pumps going bad. A few other people think it has something to do with the torque converter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Unhappy

Hi, The whine could be a bad sprag in the converter, but it usually will cause lazy acceleration below about 30mph.
    Thanks Butch
