I have a 67 skylark w/ the original super turbine 300 in it. what is the difference between this and a powerglide?? if i decided to do a swap up to a transmission with more gears, would it be very complicated or would it be like swapping out a powerglide??
    thanks

    Kevin,

I PMed another member this the other day. I think you may find it useful as well.

"The Buick/Olds/Pontiac (BOP) Th 350 has three forward gears, the same bolt pattern as the ST 300, will mount on your current cross-member in the same place, and uses the same yoke. This allows you to use your current drive shaft without modification. It is a strong trans that came attached to many 350s. It can be built to withstand the big block (400/430/455) Buick with some moderate modification.

The BOP ST 400 also has three forward gears and shares the same bolt pattern as your current trans. The ST 400 is about an inch longer then your current trans, will need the cross member to be moved back, and the yoke is bigger. This requires changing the yoke and cutting and balancing the driveshaft. The benefit of the ST 400 is that it is very durable, and will unquestionably stand up to a 455 if you decide to put one in front of it. The ST 400 came standard behind all big block Buicks.

The 200-4r is a four speed automatic overdrive transmission that has the same bolt pattern as your current trans. The 200-4r was found behind the Buick Gran National V6, but they have the same bolt pattern as the Buick V8s. It is also the same length as your current transmission, and will use your current driveshaft. It will require a different cross-member and some fabrication for the control cables. It will stand up to the 300 without difficulty, but will need major reinforcement to stand up to the big block Buick."
