I have an 88 Buick LaSabre that lost reverse. The other gears work fine and shift very smoothy but reverse does not accelerate. When I shift to reverse, it moves at idle speed, but when I hit the gas, it just continues to move at idle speed. Can anyone lend some insight and tell me what kind of transmission I have and where would be the best place to get information on this particular transmission. The car is a frontwheel drive V6.

    Thanks,

put it in drive.with car in D apply brake FIRMLY!Step on gas until it reaches max RPM,THEN IMMEADITLY,TURN OFF KEY (ignition)
IS TO BE OFF!!repete this for D,3,2,1..that should clear out the shift selinoids.this happend to my 1994 GS .it worked!after you do this ,go run the hell out of it.to clear selnoids.it worked for me ,GOOD LUCK, SUNDANCE(Terry)
