    Question

I want to thank Bob for his reply, we did replace the water pump, thermostat, and all the freeze plugs, I just now looked at the old freeze plugs and some of them are corroated on the side. any other suggestions on how to get rid of the corrosion, or what else to look at. there is no shroud on the ratator either. the car has 85 thousand miles on it and doubt if it had this problem since new. It runs fine and stays cool as long as the car is moving but as soon as you let it idle it gets hot.

    Al,
If your rad shroud is missing, it would be worth starting there even if it doesn't solve your problem completely. The shroud should make quite a bit of bit of difference in air flow through your rad at a stop or low speed. If that doesn't solve your problem, then you will have to look deeper.
