Thread: Casting numbers?

    Question

Hi, I have a pair of bare nailhead heads, and I'd like to figure out what they fit. The casting number is 1196914. I searched the web and my magazine collection, and didn't find any helpful info...but my guess is that someone here knows these numbers. What are these heads? I'm guessing 401.

    TIA,
    Jim

    Jim,

According to information from the Engine Rebuilders Handbook, The 1196914 was used from 1959-1966 on the Buick 364, 401 and 425. It was used for more years on more engines than any other casting.

    Steve--

Thanks for the info! That doesn't surprise me...

Next question: does anyone need them? would it worth trying to sell them on *b*y?
