Most likely a dealer installed stripe/decal.. take it off .. Riviera's shouldn't have a Mopar looking pinstipe on them, lol...
on this website, there is a 1972 rivera on a postcard. it has a decal running across the roof behind the half vinyl roof , runs under the windows and comes to a point at the tip of the hood. my 73 had one, but was painted over in a repaint. does anyone know about this decal? thanks, gary.

These decals came on cars with partial vinyl roofs starting mid '72. See attached listing from '72 Master Body Parts book, group 12.812.
Some appear on eBay occasionally like part #1242499.

while more knowledge is always good, you guys do realize that this is a 16 year old question, right?
now i'm kind of curious about his post card, though.

I did notice the date on the original post. I could have read it at that time. Didn't have the documentation to reply back then.
The original poster will probably never see the replies being a temporary guest so long ago. But we can still have some fun with it. The counter has been steadily advancing since the post was revived indicating dozens of recent views. These posts are directly accessible from a Google search and may provide useful info to somebody years from now.
Could not find the post card the OP referred to. It may be in the reference section somewhere accompanying some data tables. Dealers used to mail these out to prospects. Showrooms typically supplied them as well.
It's not a great image, but attached is a closeup of a '73 brochure showing the roof decal.

This is probably the original dealer postcard being described:
