I need to paint some of the interior pieces for my 64 Riv (e.g radio face plate). As such, I need to get some black paint that will match the OEM finish. Does anyone have a source for such paint?
I'm in somewhat of a hurry, so I would greatly prefer an off-the-shelf solution. If that doesn't work, I would take mail order that doesn't require a sample for matching.
I would also appreciate any tips that you may have on prep for the pieces that are painted over plating.
Thanks.
here's what I use when I'm in a hurry.
KRYLON semigloss black spray paint.
to get the best results, just before I'm ready to paint, I wipe the chrome with a strong solvent (laquer thinner) on a clean lint free cotton cloth to remove any oils or fingerprints. then I use an an air gun with an inline drier attached to blow off anything left behind. I start painting by first applying a very light coat and letting it dry completely. this step I repeat a couple of times until I have even coverage. I hope this helps you. good luck!
