Seat Belt Installation

Hello- I have a 56 Buick Special 4 door Riviera. My family won't ride with me to the 50's restaurant down the road because it doesn't have seat belts (That can be good sometimes...)

So... I got belts this winter (two for front and three for back) that are typical of the era. Now, my project is to install them. The belts came with generic instructions on how to install with reinforcement plates. However, I'm trying to locate the actual install instructions for my car.

Since the seat belts were a dealer installed accessory in 1956, someone must have the actual instruction sheet on where to drill the holes in the floor pan.

Any help would be graetly appreciated!

Mike, Just at the rear of the front seat,the floor pan has about a 2in. thick reinforced rib across the whole floor. It is much stronger than the single layer floor. I drilled this area thru on my 56 and placed the proper length Grade 8 bolts with double nuts and washers. You will find the same reinforced area under the rear seat also. It is easy to see underneath. It stands to reason that this is the strongest area.

Thanks Butch! That solves one of my concerns...I was afraid that I might drill into something that I shouldn't...I'll space the belts along that 2in. thick reinforced rib. -Mike
